Instruction with Ron had been on a personal "one-on-one" interpretive basis. He had learned, during his many years of teaching, that each student is an individual expression of his or her own creativity, so he instructed around each student's own style or expression. Each student developed his or her subject and worked at a rate comfortable to them. On-location painting was his favorite response to his need to paint, but students often used good photographs. Location painting develops the eye colorization with your palette.

Ron painted with a painting knife that he designed years ago, which was made for him by Langnickel of Italy. His pupils often tried painting with a painting knife and enjoyed the freedom it brought.

Ron loved to share his talent with others to arouse their interest in painting so that they might find self-expression through art. Besides portrait commissions, Ron enjoyed southwest landscapes, old ghost town images, and especially the Indian lands and their people. Ron has been known for his painting demonstrations for social as well as educational groups. The most recent endeavors had been murals in homes and public buildings in Tucson, Arizona, Jenson Beach, Florida, and San Antonio, Texas, of which many were rendered from photographs.
